Extrication Gloves
Summary Comments: The Ringers Extrication Glove
is an excellent all around performer for the handling
of materials that might otherwise lacerate or crush
the hands of an unprotected operator.
Protection:
High risk zones such as knuckles and fingertips as well
as the palms are cushioned and protected with abrasion
resistant materials. The Ringers-Extrication Glove proved
very effective in protecting operators' hands in situations
where materials such as shared lumber, piping, concrete
and broken glass were handled.
Fit:
An ample gauntlet and elastic cinched cuff, serve to
accommodate users of varying wrist sizes, in addition
to keeping debris or harmful chemicals from entering
the glove. In addition, some measure of wrist protection
is offered, making the use of a separate gauntlet unecessary. The
'easy-entry' design also allows for quick and fussless
donning and doffing during rapid deployments. We found
that the next larger size than the perfect size allowed
for the wearing of Nitrile examination gloves as a liner.
This feature is important to Medical responders.
Ergonomics:
The gloves are shaped with a slight curve to ergonomically
conform to the natural shape of the hand at rest. Gloves
that are not designed with a natural curve, tend to
promote fabric creasing at the joints. This can diminish
the effectiveness of a grasp, in addition to causing
chaffing and snagging.
Cold Weather Efficacy:
This model provides little cold weather protection and
should be considered an outer glove. Nitrile and polypropylene
liners provided additional insulation, allowing for
this glove's use in mixed scenarios that include cold
but not extremely cold weather.
Heat and Fire Protection:
Heat protection was effective up to 250ºf.
The gloves are not rated as flame retardant and were
not tested in flames.
Waterproofness:
The gloves sustained submersion in water for 10 minutes
with a tiny amount of water entering the glove (probably
through the seams)

IronClad
- Ranchworx Gloves
Recommended Application: Heavy Equipment Operation
HVAC/Search and Rescue/Light Demolition
Ranch Work. all around handling of
rough materials in warm and dry environments.
Available Sizes: S-XXL
Weight: 4.6 oz
Summary Comments: The IronClad Ranchworx
Glove is an excellent all around performer for the handling
of materials that might otherwise lacerate or crush
the hands of an unprotected operator. These gloves are
a sophisticated evolutionary step up from the venerable
and ubiquitous all leather ranch gloves that have served
the wortker in so many domains in the past.
Protection:
High risk zones such as knuckles and fingertips as well
as the palms are cushioned and protected with abrasion
and shock resistant materials. The knuckle region is
protected from clashes with hard objects by a series
of integrated armadillo-like ridges. The fingertips
and palms are protected by panels of hard wearing synthetic
leather and elastomer. The overall leather construction
provides a natural second skin that grips like natural
skin and allows for the escape of perspiration vapor
in hot weather. The Ranchworx Glove proved very effective
in protecting operators' hands in situations where materials
such as sharred lumber, piping, concrete and broken
automotive glass were handled.
Fit:
A satisfactory gauntlet and elastic cinched cuff, serve
to accomodate users of varying wrist sizes, in addition
to keeping debris or harmful chemicals from entering
the main glove cavity. In addition, some measure of
wrist protection is offered, making the use of a separate
gauntlet unecessary for light duty operations. The 'easy-entry'
design also allows for quick and fussless donning and
doffing during rapid deployments. The Ranchworx are
an ideal all around performer for SAR and CERT operations.
Ergonomics:
The gloves are shaped with a slight curve to ergonomically
conform to the natural shape of the hand at rest. Gloves
that are not designed with a natural curve, tend to
promote fabric creasing at the joints. This can diminish
the effectiveness of a grasp, in addition to causing
chaffing and snagging.Repeated use causes the leather
material to more closely conform to the end users hands,
making them more effective as a second skin in applications
that would benefit from this feature.
Cold Weather Efficacy:
This model provides little cold weather protection and
should be considered an outer glove. The natural grippiness
of the interior surface make the use of Nitrile liners
impractical, though polypropolene and other liners may
provide added cold weather protection if the next larger
size is used.
Heat and Fire Protection:
Heat protection was effective up to 250ºf.
The gloves are not rated as flame retardant and were
not tested in flames.
Waterproofness:
The gloves sustained submersion in water for 10 minutes
and a substantial amount of water was discovered inside
(probably through the seams).
The Ranchworx are intended to be machine washable and
in a trial we washed them with a mixed load of laundry
and then tumble dried them. They became clean of all
mud and did not shrink substantially upon drying

IronClad
- Extrication Gloves
Summary Comments: The IronClad Xtreme Extrication
Glove is top class performer for the handling of materials
that might otherwise lacerate or crush the hands of
an unprotected operator. These are intended for operations
involving massive or high risk extrication.
Protection:
High risk zones such as knuckles and fingertips as well
as the palms are cushioned and protected with abrasion
and shock resistant materials. The IronClad Xtreme Extrication
Glove proved very effective in protecting operators'
hands in situations where materials such as sharred
lumber, structural metal, piping, concrete and broken
glass were handled. They provide the ultimate protection
in situations involving high shock, impact, abrasion
and laceration potential. Massive knuckle and fingertip
armor ensure that the operator may work with little
concern for the breaching of the glove by sharp objects
or repeated impact of hard/heavy objects. Heavy ridges
protect the back of the hand from similar harmful contact.
Fit:
A generous gauntlet and elastic cinched cuff, serve
to accomodate users of varying wrist sizes, in addition
to keeping debris or harmful chemicals from entering
the glove. Some measure of wrist protection is offered,
making the use of a separate gauntlet unecessary. The
'easy-entry' design also allows for quick and fussless
donning and doffing during rapid deployments. We found
that the next larger size than the perfect size allowed
for the wearing of Nitrile examination gloves as a liner.
This feature is important to Medical responders.
Ergonomics:
The gloves are shaped with a substantial curve to ergonomically
conform to the natural shape of the hand at rest. Gloves
that are not designed with a natural curve, tend to
promote fabric creasing at the joints. This can diminish
the effectiveness of a grasp, in addition to causing
chaffing and snagging. In the case of the IronClad Extreme
Gloves, the added curve eliminates any discontinuity
between the natural grasping motions of the hand and
the actual shape and flexibility of the glove. The accordion
folds between the sections of knuckle guard combine
impact protection with the least amount of functional
resistance to the user.
Cold Weather Efficacy:
This model provides some cold weather protection and
should be considered an outerglove. Nitrile and polypropelene
liners provided addtional insulation, allowing for this
glove's use in mixed scenarios that include cold but
not extremely cold weather.Note: Nitrile or other similar
gloves may tear if used as liners in high stress or
high torque tasks.
Heat and Fire Protection:
Heat protection was effective up to 250ºf.
The gloves are not rated as flame retardant and were
not tested in flames.
Waterproofness:
The gloves sustained submersion in water for 10 minutes
with a tiny amount of water entering the glove (probably

IronClad
- Cold Climate Wear
Summary Comments: The IronClad - Cold Climate
Wear or CCW Glove provides similar protection to the
Ranchworx product as well as other medium duty gloves
but with the added benefit of having substantial insulation
against cold. Primarily intended for workers in cold
packing warehouse jobs they are also excellent for use
by SAR and CERT operators in cold outdoor scenarios. In
addition to being insulated they are also waterproof,
making them effective in situations that may involve
both wetness as well as cold temperatures.
Protection:
High risk zones such as knuckles and fingertips as well
as the palms are cushioned by the insulating material.
The IronClad CCW proved very effective in protecting
operators' hands in situations where contact with materials
occured in cold and wet weather. They provided excellent
'standing' insulation in temperatures as cold as 20ºf
and were effective in temperature as low as 15ºf with
'warmed up' operators.
Fit:
A moderate gauntlet and elastic cinched cuff, serve
to accomodate users of varying wrist sizes, in addition
to keeping debris or harmful chemicals from entering
the glove. Some measure of wrist protection is offered,
making the use of a separate gauntlet unecessary. The
'easy-entry' design also allows for quick and fussless
donning and doffing during rapid deployments.
Ergonomics:
The gloves are not shaped with a substantial curve to
ergonomically conform to the natural shape of the hand
at rest. However the heavy insulation mitigated bunching
at bent joints. Some curvature in the fingers minimized
inner palm compression and bunching.
Cold Weather Efficacy:
This model provides excellent cold weather protection
and should be considered an effective cold and wet weather
solution. Nitrile and polypropelene liners provided
addtional insulation, allowing for this glove's use
in mixed scenarios that may range from 32ºf down to
15ºf .Note: Nitrile or other similar gloves may tear
if used as liners in high stress or high torque tasks.
Heat and Fire Protection:
Heat protection was
effective up to 350ºf. The gloves are not rated as flame
retardant and were not tested in flames.
Waterproofness:
The glove's sustained submersion in iced water for 20
minutes with no water entering the glove.

Ringers
-ESG Barrier 1 Extrication Glove
Summary Comments: The Ringers-ESG Barrier 1 Extrication
glove provides a greater level of physical protection
than is offered by the classic Ringer's extrication glove.
In addition, it has the added benefit of a pathogen barrier
lining. Primarily intended for EMT , Firefighters, Police
and other emergency first responders, they are also excellent
for use by SAR and CERT operators in urban and rural scenarios. So
rather than operators having to first don a pair of Nitrile
glove liners inside their extrication gloves, one product
now does the two jobs. This not only saves time and effort
but ensures that pathogen barrier protection is always
part of standard apparel protocol of the first responder.
Physical Protection:
High risk zones such as back of the hand, knuckles and
fingertips are protected by Molded TPR (Thermal Plastic
Rubber) these 'soft' armour shields reduce damage from
impact and increase dexterity and range of motion.
Fit:
The Ringers-ESG Barrier 1 Extrication glove is markedly
more comfortable and better shaped to conform to a clasping
hand shape than the previous version. The elastic cuff
is effective in preventing material or the elements from
casually entering the glove. The trademark Ringers gauntlet
offers a second level of protection while allowing for
strap free closure.
Ergonomics:
The gloves are pre-shaped with a noticeable curve to ergonomically
conform to the natural shape of the hand at rest. This
mitigates bunching at bent joints.
Cold Weather Efficacy:
This model provides fair cold weather protection and should
be considered an effective cold and wet weather solution,
especially when coupled with either Nitrile, polypropylene
or silk liners.
Heat and Fire Protection:
Heat protection was
effective up to 350ºf. The gloves are not rated as flame
retardant and were not tested in flames.
Waterproofness:
The glove's sustained submersion in iced water for 5 minutes
with some water entering the glove.

Summary
Comments: The Hatch SGX11 Street Guard
Glove is top class performer for the handling
of materials that might otherwise lacerate or the hands
of an unprotected operator. These are intended for operations
involving typical encounters with perpetrators. The material
composition of these gloves provide form fitting ergonomics
for effective dexterity when handling equipment or firearms.
The neoprene skin also adds some low level of insulation
against heat or cold. The liners provide most of the
cut resistance. The liner would also effectively mitigate
the risk of lacerations that might be a hazard to an
enforcer that is engaged in search and rescue operations.
As such, the Hatch SGX11 Street Guard
combine an inconspicuous look with effective cut resistance
for a wide variety of professions.
Protection:
The Hatch SGX11 Street Guard gloves
provide some shock protection from casual encounters
with hard objects, but their forte is in preventing
cuts to the hand. Casual glances from a sharp razor
or knife are fully protected from breaching the special
knit lining and from lacerating the skin's surface.
The Hatch SGX11 Street Guard is equally
effective against plain edged weapons as it is against
serrated ones .A fast and forceful strike from a sharpened
machete did cause a cut through the under-liner. This
would indicate that the glove is not intended for combat
situations.
Fit:
The Hatch SGX11 Street Guard gloves
are highly ergonomic, leaving little room for error
in sizing. The advantage is that once the correct size
is chosen, the glove then acts as a form-fitting protective
skin over the operator's hands. This makes donning a
little slow as compared with gloves with highly expandable
gauntlets but an allowance is made at the point of entry
and a Velcro closure strap cinches effectively at the
cuff. Range of motion is almost completely unrestricted
and tactility is aided by a highly tenacious palm material.
The knitted liner is obviously sensed against the hand-
lending a positive reassurance of it's protective properties.
The Hatch SGX11 Street Guard was equally
comfortable to wear in hot climate as it is in cooler
ones. This is likely the result of the liner acting
as a moisture management barrier between the hand and
the glove's outer layer.
In the case of the Hatch
SGX11 Street Guard gloves, the use of a stretchy
material minimizes bunching and adds to range of motion
capacity.
Cold Weather Efficacy:
This model provides some cold weather protection thanks
to the thin neoprene back of hand panel and should be
considered effective in providing modest insulation
against cold at various temperatures- depending on the
level of activity.
Heat and Fire Protection:
Heat protection was effective up to 300ºf.
The gloves are not rated as flame retardant and were
not tested in flames. They are partially breathable
and are therefore suitable
Waterproofness:
The gloves sustained submersion in water for 10 minutes
with a significant amount of water entering the glove
though the first and second finger panels as well as
the sweat panel. The outer material is not fully waterproof
as several panels that are either sweat wipe panels
or cut resistant will allow water to seep into the glove.
Cost (MSRP): $75.00 Sales Source:
