Rating -4.25 Stars = Very Recommended
Description..
The Tane Flasher is a self-supporting
emergency flashing device powered by 2 D-cell batteries.
It functions in only two modes: Off and Strobe-Flash.
It is preset to flash 90 times per minute when actuated
by a red activation control button on the side of
its base. It does not have a magnetic or rubberized
base, making it ideal for inside vehicle use or on
pavement/asphalt road. The dome is sealed and the
battery compartment is sealed from water by a substantial
rubber gasket. It may be carried or hung by its included
and attached lanyard. It may be used in any circumstance
that dictates the use of a quick to position, water
resistant and effective attention getting strobe with
a relatively long runtime. It is medium duty - making
it ideal for consumer as well as occasional professional
use.

Evaluation Results & Conclusions
Ease of Use
Very Good. Requires very little learning
if any. Intuitive functional model. No cognitive overhead
. Press the rather obvious red button un till it clicks
and the Tane Flasher begins to flash. Re-pressing
the button turns it back off. Unscrew the red base
cover to access the battery compartment for replacements.
There are no polarity orientation aids but contacts
follow the conventional- spring side=(-) Negative
polarity. Screwing the red compartment cover back
on tightly ensures a good seal.

Task performance optimization
Very Good. Accomplishes the task of drawing
attention to the scene of an emergency or to effectively
marshal traffic. Flash intensity is effective up to
.5 miles. The Tane Flasher is to set up but lacking
a rubberized or magnetized base, it's more suitable
for contact with surfaces that do not require
a strong temporary bond between the device
and the substrate- such as automobile or boat interiors
or on level exterior concrete, wood or asphalt.

Durability
Long term and stress tests have not been
performed. First impressions are that in normal use
they are durable enough to be rated medium duty. The
elastomer sealing gasket on the inside of the base
cover is not permanently attached and could easily
fall away and become lost. We have provisionally given
this product a durability rating of:

Adaptability
Within the constraints of it's design, the
Tane Flasher is a suitable emergency response warning
device for drawing attention to a scene or used in
series, marshalling traffic, for between 50 and 75
hours. Because it's compact and portable, the contexts
of use are many and various. It's only limitation
may be the lack of a suction, rubberized or magnetized
base disallowing 'out of the box' attachment to the
top of a moving vehicle or on surfaces that may be
smooth and inclined at an angle, especially during
motion or a tempest involving high wind and or rain.
