World Magazine
Greetings
.
I'm
offering this true story from my personal experience,
in recommendation of the
Dorcy LED Traffic Wand
as well as the Lightman
Strobe (LED)
. I felt your readers might find this information
valuable.
Less than two weeks ago, my company, Imago
Metrics had
just posted our evaluation of the Dorcy 12" Signal
Wand and the Lightman Strobes ( http://www.imagometrics.com/FLReviews/FL_Stuff_4.htm
) and wouldn't you know it, both these products were
pressed into service on a recent roadside emergency.
This is exactly what happened and you're free to quote
me verbatim or reprint this story.
On December the 8th, 2004, a rainy and cold Wednesday,
I received a call on my cell phone at around 6PM (
Rush Hour) that my one of my employees' car had broken
down, not too far from our office here in Bethesda,
Maryland.
I arrived on the scene- a busy suburban intersection-
to find the stalled vehicle nearly in the middle of
a two lane road with cars trying to pass it from both
ends! To make matters worse, a two car collision had
just occurred about 1/4 mile away, down one of the
intersecting roads, and as a result, traffic was being
detoured in the direction of my employee's broken
down car . All this was creating havoc- as vehicles
tried to avoid head-on collisions as they approached
this detour- containing the disabled car. To manage
the traffic till help could arrive, here's what I did.
I set up one Dorcy
12" Signal wand on its stand about 20 feet
from the stalled car, and I perched a flashing beacon
(Lightman
Strobe) on top of an 18" traffic cone that
I happened to have in my car- placing it in a stagger
from the Dorcy 'flare', 50 feet from the car and closer
to the median.
I then used my second Dorcy 12" wand in hand,
to marshal traffic that was oncoming as a result of
the detour- forcing it along the wrong lane, so as
to bypass my worker's car. In this fashion, I must
have marshaled about 150 cars in the space of 40 minutes
(not bad time for a AAA
response).
When the tow truck finally arrived, I simply scooped
up my Dorcy Signal Wand, Lightman Strobe and cone
- dropping them all right back into the trunk of my
car.
The Dorcy Traffic Signal Wand and Lightman LED Strobe
were real life savers that night!
As you know, I write about products like this for
consumers as well as manufacturers- hoping I'll never
actually need them myself. Two nights ago they came
to the rescue with 'flashing' colors, to help minimize
the risk of a break-down lane accident. Now that I
see how indispensible they are, I'm buying more of
these products for my own family and to give to my
employees as gifts!
Sincerely,
Aten Imago
