Description..

The Princeton Tec-AquaStrobe & Sea Star are a pair of small personal beacons/locators that are designed to allow the wearer or object carrying these devices to be easily seen from a fair distance. The Aqua Strobe is a flashing white Xenon flash tube inside of a transluscent sealed conical dome. Aqua Strobe can be attached to your body or equipment. Operates for 8 hours on one AA battery. Can be seen up to 3 miles. The unit floats head-up. Includes lanyard, battery and velcro strap.The Sea Star may be used with either of two included lamps, a long runtime blinking red LED or a High output Xenon bulb. A vital part of any outdoor enthusiasts or scuba divers equipment bag, the Sea Star can be used as high output constant on area/personal locator lights or as a flashing red L.E.D light that will burn in excess of 500+ hours on two AAA alkaline batteries. The blinking red L.E.D. is perfect as a personal locator light for night and low visibility scuba diving,walking, hiking, bicycling, in-line skating, etc. It can also be attached to your pet for easy identification in low light conditions. The ability to switch from Blinking LED to constant 'On' Xenon means that the Sea Star is like having two lights in one.

Evaluation Results & Conclusions...

Ease of Use
Excellent . Require very little learning if any. Intuitive functional model. No cognitive overhead . The domes are unscrewed from the body and batteries are loaded . The domes are then replaced. Activation is implimented by fully tightening the domes. A slight unscrewing turns the lights Off. Since they are omni-directional there is no real 'pointing' behavior. These two products are best attached to thier hosts in a manner that promotes thier visibility.

Task performance optimization
Excellent . Accomplish the task of making an otherwise difficult to see, track and find object or person visible and findable- especially in Watery environments or during emergencies.Operation simply involves attaching a lights to a host object using the included lanyards/clip or in the cae of the Aqua Strobe, Velcro strap. Both products are deemed effective for scuba diving and were tested on kayak trips, walks and bicycle rides. The Aqua Strobe is four times as bright and noticable as the Sea Star, which is more versatile because it includes two types of lamps.
